What is American casual?

American casual refers to American-style clothing (apparel products) and how to wear it. It is called American casual for short. Mainly on sweatshirts, jeans, chinos, etc., it is composed of highly functional (easy to wear), rough clothes and items such as sportswear and workwear. Sometimes it refers to the Ivy League that was popular in the 1960s, but nowadays it often refers to other styles such as sports-style fashion, and styles from a wide range of ages. This is a fashion term that originated in Japan in contrast to European casual wear.
